Randy was well aware that there were eyes on him but he was used to it in these locations – in a gym, surrounded by competitive men also into lifting weights, he was used to being asked about his regime. The good thing was that most of them were looking to bulk up and that meant they were far more likely to bug John than himself. He went for the stationary bike, John apparently deciding to join him and leaving Ted and Cody to chat together on the treadmills. Much as Randy would have liked to work out next to Ted (and secretly watched the interesting ways in which his muscles moved) he thought it might be less clingy of him to give him the chance to talk to his best friend without his boyfriend listening in.
Glancing into the mirrors that lined the wall, he watched Ted for a couple of minutes – he was jogging slowly on the treadmill and talking to Cody about something, something amusing by the looks on their faces and the way Ted chuckled, probably not giving out a good belly laugh in case he fell over. Randy didn’t realise he’d slowed his pace on the bike until John cleared his throat very deliberately; Randy forced his eyes away and pretended he hadn’t been watching at all, speeding up and ignoring John’s meaningful chuckle. He noticed that he wasn’t the only one who was watching the pair, there was a man in the corner with an eye on the two younger men currently in conversation on the treadmills. Randy frowned, he could understand the interest but he didn’t like it one bit. Maybe he could sneakily stick a sign on Ted’s back proclaiming him Property of Randy Orton? Nah, that would only last until he noticed it. Was it even possible to sneak a tattoo on someone...?
“Earth to Randy!” John laughed a little and Randy turned to him and took his hand off the handlebar long enough to flip John off. John returned the gesture and the two smirked companiably at each other. “I take it things are going well with you and Ted then?” John said, keeping his voice relatively quiet since they didn’t want the whole gym listening in. “Since you can’t keep your eyes off him?” Randy grinned slightly. “Really well. He was worried about telling Cody first but y’know, now he has I’m hoping that we can let everyone else know as well – stop those Divas eying him up all the time.” John shook his head, but there was a grin on his face. “I can’t believe he came on to you. I’m surprised you went for it if he was drunk...” Randy’s eyes went to John quickly, trying to decide if it was a criticism and waiting a moment before replying. “We weren’t that drunk,” he said defensively (and untruthfully). “And come on, can you see me turning Ted down?” His eyes went to the blonde man in the mirror again. “I liked him for too long to waste that chance!”
