It has recently occurred to me that some of the new people may not have ever role played before, or have never done it on a site such as this. So I thought making a list of instructions should help.
There are several different types of boards here on this website. The most commonly used boards would of course be the role playing boards, but they're not the only type.
The General Board is where forms involving OOC (out of character) conversation goes on. This board is a wonderful place to advertise fanfictions you may have, or random things like that.
The Graveyard is where dead role plays go. You really have no business here, unless you want to read rp's that will probably never get finished.
Finished RP's are role play that have been finished. Feel free to read them.
The Chat box, also referred to as the c-box is like instant messenger. This is where the majority of the ooc chat takes place. I don't want a link to some internet site that will crash my computer. Other then that, other links are fine. Such as pictures and fanfics. We like those type of things. It's not censored. So if you don't like "inappropriate" language you have been warned.
The c-box is also a place where we members can get to know each other. But please be as nice to each other as possible in this, there's no point in being nasty to one another.
Also, don't be freaked out if the c-box were to suddenly change colors. I update it ever so often depending on my mood.
In case you didn't know, you can change the background. Doing this is very simple. All you have to do is go to your profile, click Modify Profile, and scroll down. You will see a section labeled Account Preferences, and under that an option labeled Select Skin.
Next to that is a drop down bar that has couple names. You just have to select the skin you want and hit Modify Profile, and your done. It may take a little while for it to change, but just be patient.
No matter what your background is, the c-box will stay the same.
There are two different types of role play boards.
There is the South Park RPs, and General RPs.
To start a role play you must first decided on the board you want to post in. Make sure the board goes along with the post. Then you click the New Thread button. It looks like a folder with a plus sign on it. After clicking that you fill in the required information and click Post Message, then you wait for someone to reply.
Here is what you need to know about the required information.
A good title does NOT have to be something catchy, like "A Lost Sunrise". A good title here should probably include a few things, though they are not required.
Pairing- That way a person will know if they would like it before opening it. Sometimes a person will have no pairing in mind at all.
Opening- A person needs to know if the rp is open to anyone to join, or if is closed to a specific member. Normally it is assumed that the role play is only open to one member, so please include if it open to more then one.
Rating- This is so that proboards won't be on us for not forewarning future and current readers. We had unintentionally gotten into trouble for this earlier this year and had all of our old RPs deleted as well as a few other things which can never be replaced. It is crucial that this is included, if you don't list the rating then you will be penalized. I cannot emphasize this enough.
Show- If the role play is in the Other Fandom Board. It would be wise to add the name of the show.
Examples-
Specific: Sinfully sexy (Christophe/Gregory closed to first) - R
General: Almost Completely Strait[[Glee]] - PG13
When you want a specific plot it is best to inform the reader, that way either they will comply or decided that they don't want to join. You can do this by adding a bit of OOC to the beginning of your RP in either (...) or [...] or [[...]]or {...} or \... / or whatever form you may choose. My method of choice is double brackets.
Example: []
This will help them understand what you have in mind. It would also be wise to include whether or not you want sex in the role-play. If you don't say you don't want it, then chances are some of our older and more experienced members will attempt to put it in there. Don't worry, we rape because we care.
Starting out the role play is almost like starting out a fanfiction, except you don't have to write every character. The biggest thing to remember is that there is Absolutely NO God Modding. If someone else is playing a character, then let them play it and leave it alone.
Example: Person A sat alone by the pool as Person B slowly stalked over to him.
"Hello," Person A said cheerfully.
Then you wait for someone to reply as Person B.
Sometime the minor characters are switched between the two role-players depending on what is happening in the story. Like if you are normally Person A and someone else is normally Person B and C, but Person B and C are alone in a room. Then you may take over as Person C.
For the most part, we don't really care. We don't care how good you are at spelling and such (but there is a Spell Check button at the bottom, in the same row as Post, in case anyone is self concious). But it would be helpful if we could understand what you're saying. Sometimes it's best to start a new paragraph for dialouge.
Ex: Blah Blah Blah
"Dialogue." Person A said.
"Dialogue," Person C replied.
Blah Blah some more.
Other then that, please have fun. And if you have any questions don't hesitate to pm the Admin and ask.
Hope this helps!
P.S: Remember that no hazing, harassing, bullying, or hatred of any kind is welcome here. If it is caught there will be repercussions.
